Terms of Use.

The rules for Lodestar accounts, AI reflections, trials, and subscriptions.

This version is scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026. Self-service access is limited to users aged 14 or older; a user who has not reached the age of majority where they live must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Users under 14 are excluded because no child-account or verified-parental-consent program is offered at launch. The operator is currently exempt from Korean mail-order-sales business reporting because it is registered as a simplified VAT taxpayer. If that status changes or reporting becomes required, the applicable report information will be added. Analytics, marketing email, push notifications, processors, international transfers, consent choices, and store disclosures must match the released configuration before the corresponding feature is activated.

These Terms govern your use of Lodestar, operated by Choi Hansol, a sole proprietor registered in the Republic of Korea under the trade name Lodestar and operating the Duckgu Studio brand, for users in the United States, Republic of Korea, and Japan. By creating an account or using the service after these Terms take effect, you agree to them.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 14 to use Lodestar. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Users under 14 may not create an account or use the service because no child-account or verified-parental-consent program is offered at launch. Sign in with Apple is the only third-party sign-in option in the current release. You are responsible for the sign-in method and activity associated with your account. Report suspected unauthorized use to support@duckgustudio.com.

Service and beta changes

Lodestar provides astrology-inspired reflection, AI-generated responses, saved reflection history, and subscription-based access. Features may be tested, changed, suspended, or discontinued as the service develops. We will give reasonable notice when a material change affects paid access unless urgent security or legal action is required.

The current AI flow processes up to three entries from the active reflection and returns one completed result. Continuous conversation and cross-session AI memory are planned for the October 2026 launch but are not active in the current build. They may be activated only after the product provides suitable memory controls and the Privacy Policy accurately explains the additional processing and retention.

AI-related limitations

Astrology interpretations and AI responses are for reflection and entertainment. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable and are not medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Lodestar is not an emergency or crisis service.

You may write about sensitive personal subjects, but do not submit another person’s confidential information without authority. Lodestar applies safety checks and may interrupt ordinary generation to show crisis-support options; those safeguards cannot replace a trusted adult, qualified professional, or emergency service.

Trial, subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation

  • Lodestar does not offer a free trial. On-device notes remain available without Plus. New AI reflections require valid Lodestar Plus access.
  • The intended United States prices are US$4.99 per month and US$49.99 per year. Korean and Japanese prices are not yet decided. The price, currency, tax, and billing period shown on Apple’s purchase confirmation screen control the transaction.
  • Monthly and annual subscriptions are purchased through Apple StoreKit and automatically renew under the App Store terms unless canceled through Apple account settings.
  • Price, currency, tax, billing date, and trial or introductory terms shown on the App Store purchase screen control the transaction.
  • Deleting a Lodestar account does not cancel an Apple subscription. You must cancel it separately through Apple.
  • Refunds and cancellation rights follow Apple’s process and applicable mandatory consumer law. Nothing in these Terms limits a non-waivable consumer right.

Advertising and marketing

The current release does not include an advertising SDK and does not request or display ads. If advertising is considered later, Duckgu Studio will first update the applicable policy and terms, provide advance notice, and obtain consent or provide opt-out controls where required by law. Any future ads must remain non-personalized, must not target minors, must not use AI or journal content, birth information, or sensitive information for targeting, and may appear only to eligible free users on neutral screens.

Optional marketing email and push notifications are currently inactive. They may be enabled only after the applicable policy and required choices and opt-out controls are updated to match the implemented configuration. Opting out of marketing will not stop service messages such as receipts, security notices, or support replies.

Your content and acceptable use

You retain rights in reflection text you submit. You grant Duckgu Studio and its processors only the limited rights needed to transmit, process, store, and display it to operate Lodestar.

  • Do not use Lodestar unlawfully, infringe another person’s rights, or submit content you have no right to process.
  • Do not attempt unauthorized access, evade access controls, reverse engineer protected service components, automate abusive traffic, or interfere with operation.
  • Do not use generated output to harm, deceive, discriminate against, or make high-impact decisions about another person.

Intellectual property, suspension, and deletion

Lodestar, excluding your submitted content, and its software, visual design, text, and branding belong to Duckgu Studio or its licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use it.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, material breach, abuse, or user protection. You may delete your account, but Apple subscription cancellation remains a separate process.

Availability, warranties, and liability

The service is provided on an available basis and may contain beta defects or interruptions. To the extent permitted by law, Duckgu Studio does not promise uninterrupted service or the accuracy of AI-generated results. We do not exclude liability where doing so is prohibited, including liability arising from intent, gross negligence, or mandatory consumer protection.

Governing law and fair interpretation

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes will be handled by a court having jurisdiction under applicable procedural law. This does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections or local forum rights. These Terms will be interpreted fairly and reasonably.
